At the podium stood Mike Shanahan, who has a five-year, $35 million contract that gives him final authority over football decisions as head coach and executive vice president of the Washington Redskins. Seated at a nearby table was Bruce Allen, the first general manager Dan Snyder has hired in 11 years of owning the team. Shanahan made his formal debut Wednesday, one day after signing his contract and just two days after Jim Zorn was fired as coach following a 4-12 season. "I've got very high standards, just like everybody in this organization," Shanahan said. "I can't tell you how long it's going to take. But I can guarantee you: We'll get better every day, and hopefully it won't take long to get back to where this organization has been." Source: NFL.com
This is DEFINATELY what they needed. Zorn was a freaking idiot..and now shanahan is gonna bring in his hard nose approach. Ive always liked him as a head coach, and i see the skins being contender in the next 2 yrs, if not a surprise next yr.
If it happens im pretty sure it will take longer than that. the D is pretty solid but the offense is a mess. Kyle should be able to get the best out of the young receivers but 4 of the 5 starting ol needs to be replaced along with all the backups we need new starters at RB and QB soon.
