The Washington Redskins are expected to place strong safety LaRon Landry on the season-ending injured reserve list with the fifth-year pro still hobbled by a bad left Achilles’ tendon and strained groin, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post who cites a person with knowledge of the situation. It would mark the second straight season that the free-agent-to-be would end the year on the injured list. Landry has been plagued by the strained Achilles’ tendon for portions of the last two seasons, including the final seven games of last season. At the time that his 2010 season ended, Landry was on pace for a career year with 85 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble, and led all NFC strong safeties in Pro Bowl votes. Landry last offseason received both shockwave therapy and platelet-rich plasma treatments in hopes that the Achilles’ tendon would heal without traditional surgery.
