McNabb is now a Redskin, but the question lingers, how much success will he have? He has Portis, Johnson, and Parker in his backfield, but in the slots I can't see Santana Moss and Devin Thomas cutting it. If the Redskins want a ring, they need T.O., maybe more. But a reunion between McNabb and Owens would be good for publicity and football. Thoughts?
Thomas and Malcolm Kelly need to deliver on their potential. Fred Davis and Chris Cooley could be a killer 1-2 combo at tight end. I don't see how T.O. is an improvement at this point......he still drops too many passes and is a step slower.
You do raise a good point, and I think McNabb proved last year how he loves a good TE with Celek, but of the receivers out there I think Owens provides a good option for WAS unless they want to start giving up talent or picks.
At this point the only RFA wideouts the Redskisn could try to pursue who would make an impact would be Miles Austin (Cowboys would gouge the 'Skins for compensation) or either Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd from San Diego. I personally feel Owens is toxic and should be left to another team looking for a headache. Sure he was quiet in Buffalo last year.....but how much of that was just an act in an effort to convince teams he was a changed man? I am not buying it.
I want to give Trent Williams a chance to show me he's the franchise at left tackle. McNabb is mobile, and will compensate for a shoddy OL. If he can get a playmaker at the wideout position, I'd be really excited about the Redskins.
The Redskins still have holes all over the O-Line. McNabb might be mobile but he also is on the wrong side of thirty and you have to wonder how much his legs will have left in them if he is constantly getting pounded.
Well that was the one pro with Campbell. He didn't have the arm he needed for the offense but he sure had the legs.
Too bad for Campbell he's going from one crapty o-line to another crapty o-line. McNabb better be ready for the beatdown he's going to receive. They could have Larry Fitzgerald outside and it wouldn't make a difference in the long run if the line doesn't do their job.
So would going after Flozell Adams who I feel would be a good move. Put Flozell on the left side, Trent Williams on the right side and let Artis Hicks and Derrick Dockery fight it out for left guard.
That would be a terrible move. Flozell can still succeed in the NFL if given the right scheme. Mike Shanahan is running his ZBS in Washington. If there's one player who doesn't fit that scheme, it's "The Hotel".
Shannahan would Keep T.O. in check and make sure he is getting the ball. Ive never seen shannahan fail with players in all the years ive watched football which is another reason the skins just need to go ahead and look at T.O.
Needs receivers? Not really..... Thomas will be great this season, I'm not even worried about him Kelly, he needs to prove some more, but he's been breaking out more, with this coaching, it's time. Cooley and Davis, they need nothing said, both are beast. Moss is getting old, but he still has a couple seasons left in him We also have some WR's we brought in who weren't drafted, aren't the tallest, but they are fast. I think he could have used one big WR, but it's not TO and any hope of him coming here, it isn't going to happen. If we wanted a WR like him, we would have went after Marshall.
got to think the running game will be bigger next season for the skins. open up the passing lanes, te's are pretty good and can yac. wr's dont look as bad as other teams. just not someone that deems double coverage. more people going after mcnabb then dropping back... ?
proved it last year ? he's always loved the TE. and i so hope the skins bring in owens. to see that drama unfold again would be priceless considering i'd be able to see it from the outside. no not because i dislike mcnabb suddenly, but because i hate the redskins.
agreed that with a good running game the wr's will become more open. With Johnson Portis and Parker already there....there will be some play action passing going on.
