Comcast SportsNet's Ryan O’Halloran believes that the Redskins will cut WR Malcolm Kelly and RB Willie Parker this year. The report states the Redskins will carry six wide receivers on the final 53-man roster with Santana Moss, Devin Thomas, Joey Galloway, Bobby Wade, Mike Furrey and Terrence Austin. Kelly, who is entering his third year, is a candidate to get waived since he doesn't play special teams. The team will open the season with Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson, Ryan Torian and Mike Sellers at running back, and Parker, who was signed this offseason as a free agent from Pittsburgh, will get cut. No crap...Parker lost a step in Pittsburgh. He's not a starter, makes an okay change of pace back, he's not a 3rd down back (furthest thing from it and I love the people that think he is...he has trouble catching a cold) there's no room for him on the Redskins roster with Portis, Johnson and potentially Westbrook. I thnk it's been obvious since day one. Kelly will find a spot on someone's roster.
I'd be shocked if Kelly got cut, especially with the players they have projected to make the team ahead of him.
There are A LOT of teams that'd be very okay with Kelly being okay. That actually surprises me right thurr. If we didn't have a bunch of solid WR's, I'd love to add Kelly to this team.
