A published report from Yahoo Sports writer Jason Cole says that the New Orleans Saints gave Reggie Bush permission to speak to the front offices of other NFL teams as a way to gauge interest in the running back. However, Bush told me this afternoon, via text, that the Yahoo Sports article is not accurate. Kristian Garic of WWL-TV 2 New Orleans texted Bush a message which read, "Yahoo sports is reporting that the saints gave u permission back in February to gauge interest of other teams for u. Is that accurate?" Bush responded, "Lol! Absolutely not!" Just to be absolutely certain, Garic again texted, "just so I have this right u were never given permission to gauge interest of other teams? Right?" Bush replied, "For the second time no." In the Yahoo Sports article, Cole writes that three NFL sources confirmed to him that Bush found that "a number of teams would be interested in paying him handsomely." Cole's said that his sources said that the "most likely candidates" to offer Bush a spot would be the Giants, Steelers, Seahawks, and/or Dolphins. Garic contacted Cole for comment about Bush's texts concerning the article and Cole stood behind his work, stating, "that's fine, he can say whatever he wants to say." Source: WWL-TV 2 New Orleans
Would love to have him regardless...... Bush's role offensively with the Giants probably would be the same in New Orleans. He would get minimal carries in the backfield each game behind Bradshaw & Jacobs. His receiving ability is his best asset.....he would be the pass-catching running back the G-Men has lacked since Tiki Barber retired.
Not to mention that nobody would "handsomely" reward a RB whose best assets are as a WR. I. Sure there's interest but I wouldn't be surprised if Bush fed Cole this story hisself to inflate his ego.
