Rex Ryan Says Those Who Criticize Jets "Really Got No Right"

A disappointed Rex Ryan -- while acknowledging the superiority of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday -- vowed that he would not let up with his Super Bowl aspirations despite losing in the AFC title game. "Our goal for next year? I got news for you, it won't change," the New York Jets coach said after a 24-19 loss in Pittsburgh. "And it'll never change. We're gonna chase that Super Bowl, we're gonna chase it til we get it. And then we'll chase it again after that. "People want to criticize us, then you go ahead. But you really got no right." The Jets' loss came after almost a year of bold talk from Ryan predicting the Jets would win the Super Bowl. He inscribed "soon-to-be-champs" next to the Jets' name on a bus that was touring training camps in August, and Ryan continually said he was certain his team would be champions throughout the season, but the Jets -- after winning on the road in Indianapolis and New England the previous two weeks -- were stopped by Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers. They went down with a fight -- they climbed back from a 24-0 deficit -- but were undone by a disastrous first half. "We played a good half and that was it," Ryan said. The Jets coach acknowledged it was "emotional" in the Jets' locker room after the game. "It cuts your heart out," he said.

Jets might get another shot at the post season next year, only 5 teams who finished above 500 on their schedule. This year, they were 2-4 in games with a winning record, last year, 3-3.
