Commissioner Roger Goodell says active NFL players won't be deciding punishment for flagrant hits that merit fines according to the Associated Press. He is open to listening to them, though, and says his meeting last week with Pittsburgh's James Harrison was meant to get his opinions on the league's crackdown. Harrison has been fined $100,000 for three different hits. Goodell is in Cincinnati for the Bengals' Monday night game against the Steelers. He says the league's crackdown on flagrant hits has made an impact, but it involves a cultural change for players that won't be completed overnight. Source: Associated Press
At least he's acknowledging it's a clusterheck. They need to pay some ex players to go over fines that are appealed by players with the final decision on a fine or not. If the fines are considered bogus, the fines comes out of Goodell's pocket. That way I'm sure he's looking much closer at the film. :icon_cheesygrin:
Roger Goodell can eat a bowl of rods. I think he is taking this "devastating hit" crap too far. I mean, I understand players safety. But it seems like every damn "big" hit we see ends up in a fine. Let the players play for hecks sake.. my .02
