NFL commissioner Roger Goodell plans to speak with Lions president Tom Lewand about Lewand's weekend arrest for suspicion of drunken driving according to Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press. Otherwise, Lewand continues to function in his role with the team, and the situation apparently has not affected contract negotiations with unsigned draft picks -- a primary objective before players report for training camp July 30. Goodell reiterated the league's stance that the NFL's personal-conduct policy applies to all employees of the NFL and its member clubs. As such, Lewand could face a fine and suspension. "Our policies apply to everyone: yours truly, club presidents, players, coaches, everybody involved in the NFL," Goodell told nfl.com Sunday at a rookie symposium in Carlsbad, Calif. "I think Tom recognizes that and, of course, I will speak to him in the near future, and we'll be gathering the facts. But everybody is accountable, and everybody is responsible."
