Running back Jonathan Stewart is on track to be ready for the season opener, Panthers coach Ron Rivera told the team's website. "Oh yeah, based on what's been going on the last couple days, I feel pretty optimistic," Rivera said. Stewart had offseason surgery on both his ankles and remains on the PUP list. One national report from two weeks ago suggested that Carolina had no clue when Stewart would be ready to return to the practice field.
