Larry Warford got the start in Thursday's 40-9 preseason win against the New England Patriots. The third-round draft pick out of Kentucky played 21 snaps and held tough against New England. "I did pretty well," Warford said. "Obviously there's still going to be technical errors that I need to work on. But I mean, I went up against a good player today. Got on the edge a little bit, but other than that, did pretty well. "Found I still have a lot to work on. It's like a never-ending battle. I just need to watch the film and see what I need to get better at and focus on that for the rest of practice." Detroit is replacing the departed Stephen Petermen at right guard, and now has auditioned Dylan Gandy, Jake Scott and Warford with the first unit in consecutive games. Gandy and Scott, both veterans, have received the bulk of first-team reps in practice, but Warford's strong camp has made him a legitimate contender for the job. He allowed one sack against New England, but otherwise was strong. Source: MLive.com
