Rumors about Mike Lombardi replacing Tom Heckert as Browns general manager continue to swirl less than a month before the regular season ends on Dec. 30, Jeff Schudel of the News-Herald reports. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner continue to say changes, if any, will not be made until the season ends. Neither has hinted whether they plan to replace Heckert or Coach Pat Shurmur, and both are saying the team's final record will not be the only factor in deciding who stays and who goes. The Browns are 4-8. Hub Arkish, editor and publisher of Pro Football Weekly, was interviewed Monday on the "Bull and the Fox" show on WKRK-FM 92.3 and said sources have told him Banner and Lombardi will be reunited after the season ends. The point is they don't need a new one, don't freaking tamper with Heckert, who is responsible for the massive roster overhaul that has worked out pretty well so far.
ah, i see. well, i would tend to agree that heckert should be retained but typically with new ownership, they want their own guy.
