Saints defensive end Will Smith and actor Wendell Pierce held a joint fund-raiser for their respective foundations Friday evening, and prior to it Smith said he sees his future with the Saints. "In my mind, a productive, great year, so I'm moving forward," he said, when asked what he envisions for 2013.

Smith, who turns 32 in July, will be entering his 10th season with the club. His 67.5 sacks ranks him fourth all-time with the Saints. He has also forced 20 fumbles over his career, which includes a selection to the 2006 Pro Bowl.

Prior to 2012, Smith renegotiated his contract and with Coach Sean Payton moving the defense to a 3-4 alignment it is unclear where Smith fits in those plans but the switch shouldn't make much difference, according to the defensive captain the past five years.

"Yeah, like I've said before part of the defensive scheme we had before was some sort of 3-4 anyway, that's what we've been doing," Smith said. "In my mind it's nothing I'm not used to so I'm not worried about it."

Smith said he has had but the briefest of conversations with both Payton and General Manager Mickey Loomis.

"I've seen (Payton) briefly, had a chance to say 'hi' and congratulate on being reinstated, but that was pretty much it," he said. "I'm sure I'll speak with him when everything cools down after Mardi Gras and the Super Bowl and stuff like that.

"I've seen (Loomis) and said 'hi, bye,' and that was pretty much the extent of it," Smith continued. "I mean, as far as (restructuring) or anything, we'll just see what happens."
