Jonathan Vilma doesn't believe his season-long suspension will be lessened or overturned via the appeal process, so he's already looking forward to the next step in his fight against the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell. @JonVilma51 tweeted: "What's this guy waiting on? Make your ruling so we can get on with phase 2 already." According to the collective bargaining agreement, a suspension appeal is the main recourse for the players in this situation. However, citing sources close to the players, NFL.com's Steve Wyche has reported the players also could be poised to challenge this investigation and Goodell's authority to rule against the players in court. This would be the "phase 2" Vilma is referring to. Should any prospective cases get to court, lawyers for the players also might be able to gain access to evidence and witnesses that they haven't had access to previously, according to Wyche. Somewhat true...I still thought Mendenhall's idiotic 911 statements were entertaining...but I'll be honest, if Chad Johnson were on my team tweeting, I'd be VERY annoyed...
It is getting to where I hate watching tv or coming here. Good news though. Brees came out and said he will not miss this season. So it is a matter of either a new deal real freaking soon or that one year tender. And if that happens I think he will be gone next year if a new contract can't be worked out after this year.
