New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton shot down speculation that the team could be interested in signing JaMarcus Russell to back up Drew Brees. "I don't think (we'd consider signing him) right now, with where we're at," Payton said. "I know he's gonna look for that next opportunity, and our league usually provides that." Payton did say that the Saints are still considering some veteran options at the backup quarterback spot. They haven't ruled out the idea of re-signing veteran Mark Brunell, and they previously visited with journeymen free agents Patrick Ramsey and Josh McCown. Source: Mike Triplett, The Times-Picayune
Saint wont sign Jamarcus.... what he is really saying is.. there is no way in hell we want him on our team!
Lol. He cant even land a backup starting job ;x Nice. Overrated garbage, I'd rather take my chance with one of the other guys..if GOD FORBID..something were to happen to Brees. -.- I'd rather the old man brunell take our snaps than Jamarcus.
well, no one is going to bring him in as a starter and it's possible no one would even give him a #2 spot right off the bat. about the only thing someone might do with him is bring him in as the #3 qb at the league minimum and see if he has had any change of heart to give more effort or to give it a year to see if someone on the team (a player or coach) could light a fire under his butt to give some effort.
