New Orleans coach Sean Payton denied a report from CBSSports.com that suggested the third-year Saints running back is seeking a trade, Payton said Sunday night it was "completely false" that Ingram might be shopped, telling The Times-Picayune that the report had "zero credibility." Ingram didn't play in Sunday's 31-7 trouncing of the Arizona Cardinals because of a toe injury. Stationed behind Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles, Ingram -- with 31 yards on 17 attempts this season -- hasn't lived up to his first-round draft status. He's the type of back who, at Alabama, grew stronger as games progressed, but that was college, in theory, he's a bell cow. In reality, his 1,107 yards in 28 appearances hardly suggests featured-back material. Source:NFL.com
not what I expected from him. And if you look at the stable of running backs that came out of Bama, really none of them have really done anything in the league. The offensive line made them first rounders. besides, no one would give us anything of value for him. maybe a 5th rounder?
He's just never put it together down in New Orleans. He just isn't the player Pierre Thomas is at this level.
Maybe the two first rounders put too much of a high expectations on him from us the fans. But we are used to overpaying for a running back. Maybe the Fins will give us two first rounders for him also. He needs to be a three down back or at least get 20 carries a game to be effective I believe.
