Saints Would Consider Alabama RB Mark Ingram At No. 24 Overall

Discussion in 'New Orleans Saints' started by BigBlueBruiser, Apr 26, 2011.

  1. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis on Alabama running back Mark Ingram in an interview with Sirius NFL Radio: "He's the No. 1 running back on our board, and if he falls to us at No. 24 we'd have that conversation." Ingram visited with the Saints earlier during the draft process. Loomis also admitted that the front seven on defense and helping the pass rush is the team's biggest need area. Loomis might give the Patriots cause for pause with Ingram, though we're skeptical that he'd pull the trigger on a back in the first round.

I'd love it, but we also need to address needs.

He'd definitely make their offense even more dangerous. Drew Brees and play-action would be a nightmare for dc's.

the Saints need an OLB though, and if Ayers is there I think they could take him, I like him better in the 4-3.

  4. the Saints can get a nice OLB in rd. 2 imho.

Lol. I would really love to buy me a Saints Mark Ingram jersey. :D And, I think they can get a OLB in round 2, as well. If Ingram is there, I think they should pull the trigger on him. Reggie's obviously not a every down RB, and .. who knows? Sure, we have Pierre and Ivory, but I really think Ingram adds something huge to that offense.

Also, IF we get him is probably bye bye reggie.

I don't think they would Axe Reggie if they drafted ingram. Would be a nice pick plus he doesn't fumble like beanie.

The Saints are not getting rid of reggie.

In fact I don't understand, maybe another Saints fan can explain it, WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE REGGIE?

not really reggie hate, just don't think he has been that impressive. He has his games but his stats have declined every year. He is not a running back. He is a receiver. Play him like that and you will get the best of his talent. And he for sure not worth 11 million this year. If Bush is wise he will restructure his contract to stay here. I don't think there is a big market for him.

I agree his stats have severely declined but was it not just 3 years ago that Reggie was leading the LEAGUE in rushing yards when he got injured?

reggie would stick around at a discounted price im sure...he was dominating like the first half of the season 2 years ago (maybe 3?) then he got hurt. with ingram they could really use him out wide a lot more where hes most effective. Reggie and ingram would be dynamic together in that offense

Why do I hate Reggie? Why DON'T I?

I didn't like him at USC. It didn't change when Saints drafted him. He's hurt every year, but that's not a reason to hate him. He has been in the league for 4 seasons now, its time to start producing or GTFO! He touches a ball, and he tries to run side to side looking for a hole like he's still in college. Or, he loses a ball .. trying to do the same. In the Thanksgiving Day game against Dallas, he was back to return a punt in the second half and I said "here comes a fumble" sure enough..he fumbles.

I've also said that if he was in a slot receiver role, he'd probably do a lot better.

how did you hate reggie at usc? the dude was brilliant.

i didnt think he was the second coming of barry sanders like many did...he was a "weapon" in the pros and in the playoffs two years ago he showed a lot of power...more than ive ever seen him show before. he has a ton of power behind him but he hardly ever uses it. ive always thought he should have been a WR and i stick by that but if the saints dont bring him back he will be snatched up immediately...at the very least your getting a 3rd down back, and great return man, and a 3rd/4th WR with him

Lol. I'm not saying he wasn't a talented college RB. Still doesn't mean I have to like him, do I?

i mean not really but im curious as to what is not to like about the 2006 reggie bush walking highlight reel

Once more, I never said he wasn't a great college player. Over hyped? Most definitely. Look at the teams in the PAC 10 he faced at the time. No, I am not saying it takes away from his talent. And I think He'd be excellent in the NFL as a slot receiver, but as a RB .. and dancing around in back fields, fumbling punts? Does nothing for me.

I'm all about the Saints keeping him if they'd use him in a role he'd be successful at, because it helps the team. But if he's going to continue to not produce..then i say let someone else have him.

  18. Anybody in 2006 thought that Reggie Bush wasn't going to be the No. 1 pick is a liar. Bush was viewed as an elite prospect and would dominate the RB position for the next decade.

well im pretty sure they were poised to take AJ hawk with that pick if houston took bush...pretty sure id rather have reggie

Fact is Reggie adds another dimension to that offense.Teams still have to focus to see where he's lined up at.
