The Seattle Seahawks have informed wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh that he will be released if no trade options materialize, a league source said Friday. A trade is highly unlikely, considering Houshmandzadeh's $7 million price tag for this season. The Seahawks are intent on leaning on their younger receivers -- mmost notably former Detroit Lions first-round draft pick Mike Williams, who is expected to start opposite Deion Branch. Houshmandzadeh, 32, caught 79 passes for 911 yards and three touchdowns last season, his first with the Seahawks after eight with the Cincinnati Bengals. Possible landing spots for Houshmandzadeh include the Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings. Source: Jason La Canfora, NFL.com
really, the dude is not a #1 WR. I got into an argument on this site with someone (doubt whoever they are will admit to it now) who was saying that he is definitely a #1, except for the fact that without Chad he sucked. He runs poor routes, has no speed and his one saving grace - his hands - were awful last year. He was near the top in targets in the red zone last year with minimal, nay pitiful results. the dude is old, busted and overpaid. Him getting cut is not a surprise. If he can get his hands back, he might be a third WR at best.
