Senior Bowl Report Stock Up, Stock Down

    Stock Up:

    QB Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma St.)

Weeden reportedly had a great week. He threw the ball alot better than any other QB by a large distance. He showed what you would think a 29 year old QB should show off- brains and maturity. Interviews were knocked out of the park by Weeden. He had a bad SR. bowl game but had a fantastic week of practice.

    DE Quinton Coples (UNC)

His stock has been up and down for years now. He had an up and down college career and came into the week in Mobile with alot of questions about his consistency. Leaving Mobile, he silenced critics with a nice week that showcased just how elite of a talent he is.

    DE/OLB Courtney Upshaw (Bama)

Upshaw was an elite player before this week but helped himself by having an elite week. He proved he could play 4-3 end as well as his usual spot of 3-4 OLB.

    RB Doug Martin (Boise St.)

From the moment he arrived in Alabama, showcasing a chiseled physique, he impressed scouts and coaches. He then further impressed in practices with power and doing all the little things right. He may have worked his way into the late 1st round.

    CB Janoris Jenkins (N.Bama)

Jenkins was kicked out of Florida for smoking weed. However, at N.Bama he kept his nose clean and interviewed well at the Sr. Bowl stating that he doesn't smoke or hang out with people that do. On the field he showed off the ability everyone already knew he had. This was important as he had a mediocre year this year.

    QB Kellen Moore (Boise St.)

Moore had a terrible week. Things never turned around for him. He measured in well short of 6'0, he showed a lack of arm strength, a lack of mobility, and a lack of accuracy on longer throws.

    WR Brian Quick (App. St.)

Being a guy from a small school is tough. Quick was seen as a great prospect before this week. However, following the week he may slip quite a way. He had many an uncharacteristic drop and didn't show that much quickness off the line.

    CB Alfonzo Dennard (Nebraska)

Dennard is more of a gamer anyway and is only good for certain press coverage schemes. However, this week he showed tight hips, a lack of speed, and didn't make it through the week. Many now have the mindset he will have to move to Safety.

    QB Nick Foles (Arizona)

I'm a huge fan of Foles. I don't know why he had a bad week of practice. I was really disappointed. The biggest knock on him is a lack of consistency which I saw on film but never imagined it would be quite as bad as it was in Mobile. He does have some great positives but looks more and more like a mid 2nd round guy, depending on need.

    RB Chris Polk (Washington)

Another guy I'm a big fan of. Coming into the week I thought for sure he was a 1st round guy. Yeah I saw on film he struggles with pass blocking but most young guys do. However, I never imagined he would struggle with his acceleration. That was one of the things I really liked about him on film. Rumor is he gained some weight but if it's affecting his acceleration he needs to take it off as soon as possible and rehab his draft stock.

    Dissapointed about Dennard

Its gonna be interesting to see if Jenkins winds up going ahead of Kirkpatrick.

Im really trying to like Upshaw, but I dont trust him not to another Anthony Spencer. I feel the same about Ingram if he were to play OLB in a 3-4

  3. I don't see how he will. I would put the odds very low.

Spencer hasn't exactly been a bust....

He hasnt in a way, but he hasnt lived up to what he was drafted to be.

I think he will be much better once he leaves Dallas and puts his hand in the dirt where it belongs. He isnt quick of the snap enough to justify getting consistent rush attempts in a 3-4. I think that could be Upshaws fate as well.

Ingram too, but Im very interested in him if we add more 4 man lines to our hybrid. He has the versitilty to be a real weapon in any type of multiple front defense. Couples as well, but I dont think he can stand like Ingram

Kirkpatrick could suffer the big character drop due to timing.

If they were all choir boys, I still think Jenkins is only the third best in the class, but I think the timing of Kirkpatricks offense could lead to a very surprising drop

  6. Upshaw has rare power though. I do agree he lacks elite athleticism but he is just so powerful.

    Yeah I understand it's a good point.

IMO he can be a Spencer or he could be a Lamaar Woodley. At least I dont think He'll be a Larry English

BTW, just read a Wes Bunting interview on Jenkins on Ye Olde Homer board. Bunting wasnt shy about his love of Jenkins

Ill post this here as its Senior Bowl stuff

  10. I'm not as high on Bunting as I used to be. He is still good but not great like I thought he was.

  11. Good interview though. Very good stuff.

All those guys are on and off. I think it depends on what guys you read about.

    TheSnowman #1 Trap Star

I feel the same way about small corners that he mentioned, not that they can't be successful, but it really is that much harder with how big receivers are getting

im starting to be a cordy glenn believer...he showed good stamina and carries that 350 very well, hes not just a fat slob. looks like marcus cannon but a bit stronger.

dennard has been rough, i think he could be a second or 3rd at this point.

    jenkins is legit

yep, i had heard about coples and martin already .............. some of these guys can really increase their draft stock during this one week.

WR's have been in the 6'2 to 6'4 rang for a long time now. Personally I prefer the jacked 5-10 200 lbs CB's that can man handle a taller WR at the line and go cut for cut with todays smaller slot WR's, something that the bigger WR's have trouble with

Glenn at one time was the best OG in this draft. He is also playing OT this year I believe

IMO he is a legit 1st rounder, Decastro is better, but Glenn should be a top 25 pick

  18. Litez0ut

    Litez0ut Litez0ut Sucka

    Chris Rainey!

  19. You're right Jihad. Glenn was UGA's starting LT (with mixed results). He won't play LT in the pros but is best at OG. However, he could probably play RT if necessary.

  20. K Train

    K Train Do You Honeycutt?

i know he was the "top guard" i had him highly ranked as far as senior prospect go...there were still questions about his weight and strength though.

he was average at LT, but its good to see him have the feet to play T in a pinch if neccesary. Im just saying i am now buying what hes selling. Im always leary when a player becomes a unanimous steeler pick amongst mock drafts people get lazy and just plug him in.

im on board with him at 24 as of now...
