It is getting closer and closer to the beginning of the 2014 fantasy football season. There have been discussions about whether or not Calvin Johnson should be picked with one of the first two overall picks. Another non running back that is getting a lot of attention for first round selection is Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning had the greatest season by a quarterback ever last season with 5,477 passing yards and 55 touchdowns which were both NFL records. The question that needs to be asked here is whether or not fantasy owners should be taking Manning in the first round of their draft […]

I like to use my first rounder on Calvin Johnson if I don't have the first or second overall. If I DO have the first or second overall, I like to pick a premier Running Back like Adrian Peterson. Peyton Manning would be a good selection in the mid-late first round. At least you would know that you are getting one of the best Quarterbacks of all time. How can you go wrong with that? Look at the team around him! Lol

I'd Take Manning cause he is consistent every year.

I always go RB first but if my top 3 RBs are gone (none of which are Adrian Petersen. One or two years of defying the probabilities of aging is one thing but to expect that to occur 3+ times is a sucker's bet IMO) and Manning is still on the board I would be about 50% toward taking him. I also have a feeling that Golden Tate is in for nearly as big a year as Calvin Johnson because DBs are going to double up on CJ a lot.

I won’t take him the in first round and here is why. In 2008 I took Tom Brady who was coming off a record season with 50 TDs in 2007 and was primed to repeat. Everyone was saying take him in the first round. First game of the year, blown ACL. Sure it was a freak accident, and you shouldn’t expect a guy to get hurt. But it screws up your fantasy team. You miss out on other positions and have to rely upon a late round qb or undrafted qb. I will not draft a qb in the first round in a standard league. Ever. Add in recent injury issues and age with Manning. It’s not worth missing out on a top RB or WR.
