Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reported in early July that members of the Vikings hoped that the team would abandon the pursuit of quarterback Brett Favre and give the ball to Tarvaris Jackson. ESPN's Adam Schefter said during halftime of the Jets-Ravens game that this sentiment still exists in some corners of the Minnesota locker room. It's likely gotten stronger after Jackson's impressive outing against the Chiefs on Friday night (158.3 passer rating on 15 attempts) and if the Vikings struggle out of the gates, the internal calls for Jackson will only intensify. no crap? is this a surprise? i wouldn't want him freaking up my team either. jackson or rosenfels can lose games just as easily as favre can. this team will still live or die on their defense and running game.
I don't care if Favre plays at his absolute worst, he still gives Minnesota a better chance to win than TJack or Sage
look guys, i'm not a tjack or sage supporter by any means but c'mon, do you seriously think that the Brett Favre of 'right now' is actually better than sage or tj? most likely, he's going to be even worse than last year (adding another year of age at his stage in life is huge) and last year he didn't look sharp. i have no confidence that favre has anything left to offer. i guess we will see though.
the 1st half of the season Favre played well...yes he blew up at the end, but he still made the pro bowl. Favre gives the threat of throwing the ball down the field which means much less stacking the box for opposing defenses. If his shoulder holds up I think he has a chance to be dangerous this year, and I think it will because of the amount of touches everyone knows AP will get. Harvin should get touches running the ball and on underneath routes, Chester Taylor is really good in the screen pass game...the field should be really opened up for Brett. I look for him and Berrian to have good years.
And so its coming to pass - you didn't have to be Nostradamus to know that Favre was going to divide that locker room, and just wait until he starts playing like crap! Then the fireworks will really fly and ultimately I prophesy Favre getting ran out of town on the same rail as Childress when they miss the playoffs.
The locker room was already divided. The addition of Favre was just a third option for the players who didn't already side with Jackson or Rosenfels. lol...Favre had nothing to do with the division...he's just the late comer, the underdog with "little support."
I was with ya until you used the term 'underdog'. And I think with the addition of Favre it more than added a third QB option but it probably also created a faction that just thinks Favre is a horse's butt after all his '16 year old girl losing her virginity' like flaunting and feigning - and I imagine quite a number feel quietly betrayed by the way the organization has treated the other two 'starters'.
I was being sarcastic...he came to the "table" after most of the players have "sided" with Jackson or Rosefels...
Whos to blame for this situation? Chilldress? If so he will be gone after this year if they don't make the playoffs and do well. It's a real hecked up situation when you have so many players on a team behind 3 different quarterbacks. That is really hecked.
Maybe they'll shake things up each week, giving TJ and Farve semi-alternating games? That'd be a hell of something to prepare for, not knowing which one you'd see.
