Amid speculation that coach Lovie Smith might be on the hot seat at Halas Hall after three consecutive non-playoff seasons, CSNChicago.com's John Mullin reported Friday that Smith will be retained for 2010. Citing ''two highly placed individuals within the organization,'' Mullin reported there will be no coaching change ''due in some measure to the looming prospect of a strike/lockout.'' Offensive and defensive coaches did not receive the same assurances, according to the CSNChicago.com report.

Lovie can thank what he has left on his contract for his job being safe.

I think it is time for Lovie to go along with Ron Turner and host of other coaches. They seem to have run out of ideas and are unable to motivate the team to any sort of performance.
Unless Lovie goes I fear the Bears will have another year in the wilderness.

Not to mention that there may be a work stoppage looming soon, as well. Good ol' Virginia McCaskey is not gonna pay 2 head coaches if there is no football going on.
