The state medical board is recommending that Chargers team doctor David Chao be disciplined with five years of probation, plus an evaluation by a psychiatrist and ethics training. Deputy Attorney General Matt Davis made the recommendation Tuesday on behalf of the board after a weeklong hearing over allegations that Chao abused alcohol and didn’t truthfully answer questions on state forms. Chao’s attorney, Bob Frank, disputed the state’s case by saying Chao had only one drunken-driving incident in the past 16 years and said that even a letter of reprimand against his medical license would be “unjustified and superfluous.†Administrative Law Judge Vallera Johnson is expected to issue a proposed decision on the matter within the next few months. The board then will consider that proposal for adoption. Doctors “are held in a higher regard than the average citizen, and sound judgment is part and parcel to the qualifications and duties of a physician,†Davis said in his closing argument Tuesday. “The DUI conviction evidences a problem in that area.†Source: San Diego Union Tribune
This has to be a freaking joke. From what it sounds like he isn't a habitual drinker (yes I know that's what his lawyer said) dude made a mistake and they want to punish him for 5 years? What that old saying "he without Sin casting the first stone" ?
