League sources have told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that there is "real concern" within the Steelers front office that they could lose WR Mike Wallace, scheduled to become a restricted free agent next month. Citing what he called "serious issues" with the salary cap, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert has said the team would not re-sign any of its own free agents, including Wallace, before the start of free agency on March 13. The Steelers could place the highest free-agent tender on Wallace, which would require teams to surrender a first-round pick if the Steelers do not match the offer. The team could opt for the franchise tag, expected to rise to $13.7 million for receivers in 2012, which La Canfora reported would cost more than $9 million against the cap.

I think he's as good as gone. He painted a pretty bleak picture for his return to Pittsburgh today during a radio interview. He was another player not happy with Arians leaving...

all todd haley has done has been turn WRs into pro bowlers...sure he might not use wallace in the screens and reverses game like arians did, but thats because hes not a dumbbutt.

ill take a first rounder for him, leeetttssdoooitttt

At first glance New England makes a ton of sense to me. They're in the market for exactly what he could give them and they have two picks in the late first. Still open to it if it meant him going there..?

  6. you guys like Haley now but this time next year I bet you'll hate him.

If the steelers are having cap issues, how can they afford to franchise tag him for $13m?

hes a restricted FA, they can tender him for a first rounder without tagging him.

and their cap issues arent that bad

if wallace is pissed about arians im convinced arians must have sucked a mean rod and really went easy on these guys in practice
