Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Mundy is appealing a $10,000 fine for a late hit on Oakland wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins that led to the Raiders’ winning touchdown on Dec. 6. Mundy drew an 11-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for slamming into Higgins on an incomplete pass during Oakland’s final drive. Mundy contends it wasn’t a helmet-to-helmet hit, as the NFL states in the letter notifying him of the fine.

If its the hit I'm thinking of it wasn't very late it was just right in Higgins grill - definitely deserves the fine but they should label it correctly.

I agree, the commentators originally said late hit which had me livid, but they corrected it and said he led with the helmet.

"leading with the helmet" is a joke...every diving tackle leads with the helmet. unless it is the first thing to hit, it's bullcrap...
