Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Mundy is appealing a $10,000 fine for a late hit on Oakland wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins that led to the Raiders’ winning touchdown on Dec. 6. Mundy drew an 11-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for slamming into Higgins on an incomplete pass during Oakland’s final drive. Mundy contends it wasn’t a helmet-to-helmet hit, as the NFL states in the letter notifying him of the fine. Source: Yahoo Sports
If its the hit I'm thinking of it wasn't very late it was just right in Higgins grill - definitely deserves the fine but they should label it correctly.
I agree, the commentators originally said late hit which had me livid, but they corrected it and said he led with the helmet.
"leading with the helmet" is a joke...every diving tackle leads with the helmet. unless it is the first thing to hit, it's bullcrap...
