Ike Taylor recently reiterated that he will test the open market in free agency once the NFL lockout comes to an end, so he’ll find out if other teams agree with the Pittsburgh Steelers that he ranks among the league’s top cornerbacks. John Clayton, Mike Sando, Kevin Seifert, Pat Yasinskas, Tim Graham, Bill Williamson, James Walker and Paul Kuharsky voted for ESPN.com. The top five were close, but it got a little sketchy after that with the remaining 18 players being named on at least one ballot, none of the final 18 were named on every ballot, however, and Taylor couldn’t get at least one top-10 vote for one point. The now nine-year veteran has not made a Pro Bowl in that time, either, primarily because Taylor does not have good hands. He rarely picks off passes, but he’s solid in coverage and an excellent tackle in the open field, as well as coming up for run support, Taylor has just 11 interceptions in eight NFL seasons, including two last year and a high of three in 2007. Top 5? Hell no. If Steelers fans wanna believe so, that's their right. But he won't get that kinda love from fans or analysts around the league. I'd love to have him on my team. I like his game. But top 10 is really pushing it, too.
It's been pretty much summed up already...he's definitely not Top 5. Top 10 is pushing it. He's good in coverage but has crap for hands. Steelers don't necessarily need him, the need a veteran, experienced corner (like an Ike Taylor) because their CB's are crap after Ike Taylor. They could use a couple of them...
he 's good for what they need him for the safeties and nickles make most of interceptions. But they do need hands at the cb position.
hes probably top 10 in most well rounded CBs....hes not a world beater but hes the best we have, freakishy fast, great at taking away the top WR, and excellent in run support. he competes hard, but damn his hands are freaking dismal
that would be a sick combo, hes like the exact opposite of asante. physical, cant catch, and good against the run.
I said it in another thread...I could totally see the Eagles pairing Taylor up with Samuel. A lot less money than Asomugha...and he would definitely help out the backend of their D.
yeah was thinking the same thing cause the price tag for nnamdi would be sky high and the eagles need to re-sign vick and d-jax.
