Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes that the Steelers don’t see RB Rashard Mendenhall as being much of any use to them next year. Bouchette mentions that “it’s possible Mendenhall may have had his last carry with the Steelers.†Mendenhall suffered a torn ACL late into the season last year which leaves his entire 2012 season in doubt. Add in the fact that he’s entering the final year of his contract and it’s certainly a possibility that the Steelers could look to move on without him in a year from now. Ed Bouchette adds that; “sources told me that the Steelers will not count on Mendenhall returning to form until at least the 2013 season.†It’s hard to gauge what the market for running backs will be like in 2013, but if the recent trends are any indication, it’s safe to assume that he’s not going to land a huge contract. I'm sorry, but ARE YOU* OUT OF YOUR FRAKKING MINDS?! Mendenhall is a great RB. Steelers need to keep him.
I have to agree on cutting Mendenhall, extend Wallace and Brown, then perhaps talk to the Panthers about Stewart or Williams after they just signed Tobbert, Cedric Benson/Michael Bush/Ryan Grant are also available or pick up a RB through the draft.
Why, he wont play most of 2012if he plays at all......on account of his knee is hecked Sent by HTC Vivid using Tapatalk
pittsburgh has always felt they can manufacture new RB's ......... they've never felt the need to hang onto their RB's ......... add in the fact that RB's in general are losing value in this league and this makes sense. If he hadn't blown out his knee, they might have made more of an effort but with their philosophy, the position in general losing value, and the injury, this shouldn't be real surprising to us.
i hope dwyer is ready to show up in good shape, he is definitely the fastest of him, redman, clay, and moore. Moore is out, baron batch is in....but i guess we find out how much faith they have in dwyer after the draft, reports indicate they love pead
There are plenty of RB in the free market and I think C.Benson would make plenty of sense for the Steelers
