The Steelers today determined that Willie Parker will not be able to play Sunday because of turf toe and that let them with only three healthy backs -- Rashard Mendenhall, Mewelde Moore and Carey Davis, who was re-signed Tuesday to play fullback. Mendenhall will start at halfback against the Chargers. Rookie running back Isaac "Redzone" Redman has been added to the Steelers 53-man roster and likely will suit up for tomorrow's game against San Diego. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
I think this will be a good thing. He stutter steps too much instead of JUST GOING AT IT. Mendenhall, this is your time to shine buddy. If you dont do good tomorrow, its gonna be a long uphill battle for ya. GO STEELERS
i believe mendenhall will have over 100 yards, moore has had his games, its time mendenhall does. i think he will be given every opportunity to succeed
Being given the opportunity is one thing...actually succeeding, that's another... What's the definition of succeeding in Mendenhall's case?
Definition of succeeding?.....Solid game with decent numbers and helping the team to play well. Doesn't mean he has to have 100+ yards and score two td's. Those are fantasy numbers. If he has 100+ yards and two td's the team will probably win. If he has 60 yards , one td, two catches for 30 yards and gets a big first down or two that helps the team on a drive then he and the team have probably had a succesful day.
I like that definition Dougerrrr. Mine would be similiar...a little less emphasis on stats. I want to see him run hard, I don't want to see him stutter step, I don't want to see him go down in the backfield, I don't want to see him go into the line backwards or sideways. I'm not into seeing him make 5-6 nice runs on a drive and then fumble at the 4. I want to see him play low, play smart and play hard. Break some tackles...if he plays like that, the stats will come. If he gets 45 yards on 20 carries but runs hard and plays smart, that will be successful in my book.
