One confusing backfield situation in the NFL might have just gotten a bit of clarity. In a surprising move, Pittsburgh has waived running back Jonathan Dwyer, according to Steelers Depot. Dwyer appeared to be in the mix for extended playing time along with Isaac Redman, Felix Jones and LaRod Stephens-Howling after rookie Le'Veon Bell sprained his foot. Bell was the projected starter, but he will likely be out through September. The strong performance by Jones at Carolina in the final preseason game might have put the former Dallas standout in the lead. Source: CBS Sports
This might be surprising to anyone who hasn't been keeping up with the Dwyer situation the past few seasons. I think they will name Redman the starter, but I hope Felix Jones gets the majority of work.
Not surprising. Still hate the fact that Redman is on the roster...and I think Dwyer will end up in New York with the Giants. Why? No idea.
