The San Francisco 49ers inquired about Steelers free-agent wide receiver Mike Wallace but the price was too high according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. A league source said that Wallace, 25, wants a contract that surpasses the eight-year, $120 million deal that Larry Fitzgerald signed last year with the Cardinals. Combine that with the first-round pick any team that signs Wallace to an offer sheet would lose if the Steelers didn't match the offer, and you start to understand why we've heard so little about Wallace in the last week and a half. Every player wants more money than Fitzgerald...right?!? Having said that...see ya Mike. Show me a first rounder...lol.
Wallace has always thought of himself as better than he really is. I don't think we get anything for him, and we just lose him for free at the end of next season. I seen some people on a Steelers board talking about a hometown discount. Get real, Wallace doesn't come off anywhere near someone who would do that.
Why would a 26 year old offer a hometown discount? Lol... I've read the same and it makes no sense whatsoever. I guess best case is that he doesn't sign and the Steelers are able to come to reasonable terms with him. I've said it a many times, they can't overpay Wallace cause Brown and Sanders are up next year and Brown might be much better...
This dude also reported that the Niners were always more interested in Smith than Payton. Mindless Drivel
Only other player that should think he can say the name Larry Fitzgerald in contract talks is Calvin Johnson. Other than CJ, they're all wannabe's.
what a jack@ss!!! you have had 2 good years....your no where near the model professional LF is - your young and doing well keep your nose clean play hard for another few years and show the same dedication LF has in all of his professional career and maybe you can talk somewhere in that region. Until shut your mouth, lid up, strap up and be a pro:icon_evil:
eh, this is conjecture at this point. wallace wasn't quoted as saying this. megatron just signed a long-term contract at $15.6 mill/yr ................ that's obviously the top right now for WR's and wallace clearly should not be paid at the top i would say a long-term deal at $10-$12 mill/year is what he will end up getting somewhere.
Fitz signed his deal a few years ago too. Thats the way the NFL is nowadays. Anyone that can lay claim to being a legit #1 is gonna ask for about that much
