Super Bowl Champs Will Have To Open Season On The Road

Apparently winning a Super Bowl did not earn the Baltimore Ravens a lot of respect in their hometown. Negotiations with MLB and the Orioles have fallen through and the Ravens will have to open the season on the road instead of hosting the Thursday night NFL opener according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.

The Orioles have a home game scheduled for 7PM that evening. While the Orioles front office reportedly offered to change their starting time, the Ravens concluded that having the two games on the same day would create logistical problems too great to overcome. The teams play in different stadiums but share parking lots. “The Ravens greatly appreciate the willingness of the Orioles to adjust the start of their game in an effort to make this sports spectacular happen. But, in the end, anticipated problems with parking, rush-hour traffic, plus crowd and car congestion around Oriole Park and M&T Bank Stadium, will keep the doubleheader from taking place" according to Ravens team president twinky Cbutt.

If they start the O's game at noon, there should be no reason they can't be ready for the Ravens game...that's silly...tailgating would just be cut short...

I am so freaking mad I can not see straight, I am sweating snot and ready to spit bullets. The powers that be issued almost identical press releases. The Ravens and Orioles tried.... The Orioles and Ravens tried... to yada yada yada. Crowd control, parking, rush hour, public safety, gridlock, what the heck?? WTF? I am not blaming anybody, I am blaming everybody. The game could be played on Wednesday but that is the start of Rosh Hashanah. Evidently that is not kosher for Robert Kraft. The NFL has played on this Holiday plenty of times and will start the first week in a couple of years on this date, as it changes year to year. We were expecting to open the season at home VS the Pats. Nuff said. On to the 2nd point. Screw Peter G. Angelos. The Orioles will be @ game 138 of the season and feel the interuption will conflict with the play-off run, pitching rotation, etc, etc. Pete, "Go Screw Yourself"!!! I hope it freaking rains its butt off for 2 freaking days. I am not blaming anybody, I'm freaking blaming everybody!!!!
This is where the diarhea of the mouth comes in. Yada Yada parking, congestion, public safety, crowd control, hotel rooms, What Ever!!!. Baltimore City has submitted a bid to host the 2024 Olympics. They will never EVER get this bid. But if they did, there would be crap going on in M&T Bank Stadium, Oriole Park At Camden Yards. The Baltimore Convention Center, The Baltimore Arena and multiple community college facilities at the same freaking time! Now I have neglected the biggest freaking culprit in this whole freaking sham! NBC! Thursday is our ratings day and Wednesday is not a good day for us. The NFL tells us we will open on the road but there will a celebratory concert in downtown Baltimore before the game. The only people at that concert will be the 200 people at the freaking Orioles game cus everybody else will be watching the Ravens open the freaking season in.........Denver? It is tradition since 2003 that the Super Bowl Champions open the season AT HOME for the NFL Season. We also got screwed after winning SBXXXV cus Denver opened a new stadium. That was before this tradition started, but this is the tradition that will contiue. The tradition is FREAK BALTIMORE.
I remember giving the finger to Mike Ditka on Radio Row @ SBXXXV for not respecting the Ravens. I remember being interviewed outside Raven James stadium after SBXXXV by WIYY 98 ROCKFM. I said and I quote" I do not want your FREAKING respect now, cus now I got your FREAKING TROPHY'!!!!! And Now I got it again. So keep freaking with me, cus I'll take one every 12 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep, it's their own fault for not figuring out the logistics. kansas city has a similar set up with royals stadium right within 100 yards of arrowhead stadium and they have had games on the same day before.

    it's really not that difficult.

Is there public transportation near the Baltimore Stadiums?

The MARC train has a station there and there is a free circulator bus that goes down there from several other neighborhoods. Problem is, no one wants to go to, park in, or leave their car anywhere near any other neighborhood in Baltimore. (or take public transportation in Baltimore) It's not like the Ratbirds are losing a home game or anything, it's just not going to be week one.

I just had to rant. It is a big deal cus it is always good for 31 other teams but not us. I feel we are the red headed stepchild that gets no respect, going back to Tags saying go build a museum after not securing one of the last expansion teams. Sigh! "No big deal?" Well Dawk at the end of the day I'll take the Lombardi and be satisfied with that, and 31 other teams would probably do the same. I just had to rant @ the hipocrisy. It was my Peter Finch moment from the movie Network. "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!!!!" Ravens, Orioles, NBC, NFL, MLB can't we all just get along??????

How funny would it be if the baseball game ends up rained out.

I said in my rant to Peter that I hope it rains for TWO days! Also rather than go qoute everyone......Light Rail was free for the day we had the SB parade. 75,000 in the stadium and 125,0000 in the streets. They found a way to get there and also park if they had to. I'm done. Nuff said!
