Suspended New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton doesn't plan on asking the NFL for permission to attend Sunday night's game against the San Diego Chargers with Drew Brees on the verge of setting the single-game consecutive touchdown record, Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

"No, no," Payton told Holder when asked Tuesday morning about his possible attendance. "I've kind of got a full plate here. A handful of people texted me that. Right now, I'll be able to watch it, and shoot, just being able to watch it on TV is no different than being there in person. It's just an honor to be connected to this."

ESPN's Ed Werder wrote on Twitter on Tuesday morning: "Drew Brees thinking about having Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis at historic game Sunday. Precedent with SP allowed HOF and GW last weekend."

The Saints wouldn't comment, and the NFL called it simply speculation.
