While it would be easy to blame Sebastian Janikowski for Sunday’s heartbreaking 24-23 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Oakland Raiders refuse to do so. Janikowski still has the support of his coaches and teammates after he missed three kicks in Sunday’s game including the potential game winner as time expire. “As I told the team I don’t feel like the game was won or lost on the last play right there,†head coach Tom Cable said, per Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. “It certainly could have been won, but we had a lot of opportunities in the second half to put some exclamation points out there and we couldn’t do it.†The returning Michael Bush echoed Cable’s sentiments. “The field goal wasn’t the killer,†he said. “We had opportunities on the goal line to score. We just have to go back and watch film and correct the things we can.†But nobody shared a deeper though than cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. “I hurt for him and I hurt for the team,†Asomugha said, per Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle. “He’s a guy that comes out and has made so many great field goals, last-second field goals, for us in his career. That’s a tough one. He is going to take it hard.†Source: Football News Now
One of my favorites and most automatic clutch players through these bad years... Its all good SeBass, but a very tough pill to swallow. This game shouldnt really have gone down to a last second field goal.. especially the way Oakland out played them. Cards were just trying to give us the game on a silver platter and we didnt take advantage of those oppotunities. 1 for 5 in the redzone dosnt cut it.
Well he is our kicker, so we have to stand by him, we look improved, lets just keep getting better and hopefully next time he gots a shot he will make it.
