Television Coverage Of NFL Draft Draws Record Numbers On First Night

    Over 25 million viewers watched the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday evening on ESPN and NFL Network, according to The Nielson Company. The two networks had a combined average rating of 5.28, the highest ever for the draft and an 18 percent increase from the first round last year, which posted a 4.66 average rating. The league announced that the two-network average of 8.1 million viewers is up 16 percent from last year. NFL Network's first-round coverage drew 1.4 million viewers, which is a 40 percent increase from 2011.
