NEW YORK -- NBA owners and players reached a tentative agreement early Saturday to end the 149-day lockout and hope to begin the delayed season on Christmas Day. Neither side provided many specifics but said the only words players and fans wanted to hear. "We want to play basketball," NBA commissioner David Stern said. After a secret meeting earlier this week, the sides met for more than 15 hours Friday, working to try to save the season. This handshake deal, however, still must be ratified by both owners and players. Stern said it was "subject to a variety of approvals and very complex machinations, but we're optimistic that will all come to pass and that the NBA season will begin Dec. 25." Source: ESPN
darn, so the season is only going to last 9 months instead of the typical 11 months .............. i'm pissed
well, from everything i've heard and read it's pretty much a done deal though. these things always get announced while they're dotting the i's and crossing the t's. i think this is legit.
Too much at stake ($$) for players, owners and affected businesses to not sign. That they paint themselves as "working" to get the deal done is nauseating.
I said I wouldn't miss it, and I didn't. I'm still not going to watch until the playoffs. Bunch of greedy bastards are lucky I'll still watch that.
Yesterday morning when i found out that they agreed to a new deal it felt like christmis morning. Im really looking forward to it. But you guys are right both sides need to sign on the dotted line
Boston anyone, they phone in half their season anyways... However I won't believe it until everyone drops their respective lawsuits and signs...
