Texans Cancel Their Annual Preseason Practices With Saints

  1. The Texans and the New Orleans Saints have canceled their annual practices before their Aug. 20 preseason game at Reliant Stadium. Because of the lockout that caused teams to miss their official offseason program and the uncertainty over the start of training camp, coaches Gary Kubiak and Sean Payton agreed to cancel practices at Methodist Training Center. This would have been the fourth consecutive season they practiced before their preseason game. "Sean and I really wanted to do it, but we've got so much to make up, we thought it would be better to not do it this year and pick it back up next year," Kubiak said. "It was a mutual decision." Last year, the Texans practiced at New Orleans for the second time. The Saints came to Houston for the first time in 2009.
