J.J. Watt ended one of the most dominant defensive seasons in NFL history in appropriate fashion. He's the 2012 Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Frankly, it would have been a crime if anyone else won.

The Houston Texans defensive end was a monster from Week 1 straight through to Week 17. He was a mainstay on my weekly MVP list for all positions, finishing in the top four. It's hard to remember another player quite like Watt.

The selection committee also agreed Watt dominated -- he received all but one vote in being selected as the NFL's top defensive standout.

Watt was dangerous as a pass rusher despite rushing from the inside, finishing with 20.5 sacks.

and the one guy that didn't vote for Watt should permanently lose his voting priveleges forever

Ashley Fox, ESPN was the lone "guy" that didn't vote for Watt. She voted for Von Miller.

i don't think anyone should be voting on stuff like this if they didn't play the game at a high level....... i would say college or above. i understand there are a lot of people that understand the game very well but never played college or above, but there are also a lot of people in the 'business' that never played it at any level and don't understand the game whatsoever.

it's the same way with these awards and the hof voters. the hof voters are nothing but journalists. you could have someone voting for these people who have never picked up a football in their lives. :wtf1:

in my case, it's not sexist, though, because i would eliminate a lot of men too that never played at a higher level. hell, i would be eliminating myself.
