The Houston Texans are looking at Karl Dorrell for their vacant quarterbacks coach position, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports. Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp has left the team to become the Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator. Dorell, 48, has spent the last four seasons with the Miami Dolphins, coaching receivers from 2008-10 before becoming the quarterbacks coach in 2011. The Dolphins lost starting quarterback Chad Henne early in the 2011 season and had to turn to free agent addition Matt Moore in October. Dorrell was the head coach at UCLA from 2003-07 and has previous NFL coaching experience with the Denver Broncos from 2000-02, where he was worked as a receivers coach on Mike Shanahan's coaching staff that had Gary Kubiak as offensive coordinator.
