When Texans coach Gary Kubiak called Rex Grossman, he explained the opportunity the quarterback would have to compete for a roster spot. When Kubiak finished giving his recruiting speech, he asked Grossman what type of opportunity he was seeking. "Coach, that's all I'm looking for," Grossman said. "I just want to get back to work." Other teams had called the 28-year-old free agent, but five or six ended up signing someone else while the other two or three were waiting just a little longer before making their decisions.

Rex = starter. Mark it down, no contest, nothing left to discuss. In fact, why are they competing anyway?

I think Rex could be a solid backup for us. And with Matt getting injured constantly the backup has played a big role the last two years. Too big of a role for my liking actually.

The way I look at a back up is if a backup can come in and go 2-2 over a four game stretch...you're in good shape. If he can't win 2 out of 4 games...time to find a new back up. I think Grossman could come in and win 2 games for the Texans...he's not the best but then also, not the worst back up in the league...
