With the 20th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select Alabama CB Kareem Jackson. He is a very confident defender that will play tight to his opponent in both man and zone coverage schemes. Jackson shows great foot quickness burst and speed to stay with top receivers. He is an instinctive player that is quick to anticipate and jump routes as plays unfold. Source: NFL.com
Yeah, there was so much hype around Kyle Wilson and Joe Haden, I never heard of this guy, but their scouting reports are similar and Jackson was the 3rd rated corner.
I've also gotta wonder if we were entertaining trade down offers to go back about 5-7 spots if we would've taken Wilson or Jackson and nobody bit.
As an Alabama fan, I am gonna miss Jackson at CB. He is a very nice corner. He had some work to do, but developed nice once Saban came in. He is very quick and nice in the zone coverage schemes. Glad to see him go in the first round. :] Now the Texans have Demeco and Kareem from Bama. Two guys I wouldn't mind having on the Saints any day. Either way, nice pick. I think he could make an impact in the near future here.
Man, he's average at best. Jackson is too slow to be a corner in the nfl and is a product of a great defensive scheme that made him look better than he actually is. Just because Cushing came from a big time pro ready school doesn't mean that will work for every player.
