Texans Won't Rule Out Drafting A Safety In The First Round

  1. On April 22, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will approach the podium at Radio City Music Hall, look down at the sheet of paper in his hand and say, "With the 20th pick in the first round of the 2010 draft, the Houston Texans select ..." In a perfect world, UT free safety Earl Thomas and Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews will be available for the Texans, and if both are available, general manager Rick Smith and coach Gary Kubiak will have a difficult decision. Running back and cornerback are the Texans' two most glaring needs while free safety is a need, not a priority, but Thomas is such a terrific prospect he'd be hard to pass up. "We feel very good about Eugene (Wilson) and Bernard (Pollard) as our (starting) safeties," Kubiak said. "But there are some very good safeties in this draft. If we find a player we think can have the impact (linebacker Brian) Cushing had last year, I don't think it matters where he plays. If you know you're getting a chance at a kid that can have that type of impact on your team, and you may have a weakness somewhere else, you better take that player, because they don't come along very often."

Wont be mad if they did.
I see the first round being used for a FS, CB, or HB.

I really want Thomas to go to the Texans if we dont get him.
