The Boston Red Sox have signed Pablo Sandoval to a 5 year, 102 million dollar deal. Source with Hanley story has confirmed. It's done. Source: boston.com
So, the Sox have spent $200 mill in the last couple of days. .. . I thought they were 'building from within' with smaller payrolls?
And with Hanley Ramirez on the verge of signing a 5-year $90 million deal looks like the Red Sox are trying to buy a championship. All the years that Boston fans mocked the Yankees for their spending habits and now this. What a fuhking joke. $37 million/year for these two players? Good luck with that Boston.
and now the rumor is that they already want to trade Cespedes. For some reason, he was not well received in the Red Sox clubhouse.
I love Pablo, but you can have him for that kind of money. He's great in the clubhouse and pretty clutch, esp. in the playoffs, but I think his most productive offensive days are behind him for the most part. Oh well, it was a fun ride! Thanks, Panda!
So...have the Red Sox finally transitioned from The Rebels to the Evil Empire? Another example of becoming what you claim to hate...
Finally? The red Sox have been carrying huge payrolls for many years now. They claimed they were getting away from it and building their farm system.
Panda got paid for his playoff numbers. As it stands now he is the best hitter average wise in postseason history. They went four years recently without making it to the playoffs before winning in 2013.
So now they're trying to buy their way out of the cellar. They'd better snag an arm during the off-season because their starting 4 or 5 suck.
