I could care less...I want to see football next year...bottom line. The players are going to get hurt the most if there is no 2011. The average career is about 4 years...if the players miss one season, that pretty much is 25% of average players career...it's going to hurt. For a plumber...that's like him/her losing 10 years of their career.
Like everyone else so far all I want is football next season. I know the 18 game season is an issue, but is it really that big a deal. Don't the CFL already play 18 games and 2 pre season games? Does that cause any real problems for them? (I really don't know, CFL is all but impossible to follow in the UK compared to NFL).
Peter King was on PTI today saying there was no way the 18 game season would happen next year anyway. It would be 2012 at the earliest. He also said there will probably be some interruption of the season next year. I think the rookie wage scale has to happen and I like a 17 game schedule but not 18. Everything else is millionaire crybabies fighting over more money then I'll ever see.
I'm all for the socialism that is the NFL. No football for you freedom loving Pittsburgh Penguin fans.
As I heaes on the eadio and such this might not hurt all players but what about the lesser known ones that need the healthcare insurance BC after March its gone......the players will cave and we will have fb
The players have real points. These ludicrous rules claiming they are because the league "cares about the players", however they want to extend the season greatly increasing the chance for injury. Also, if they do extend the player's salaries should extend disproportionately to compensate for the greater risk. However, they do make alot, a rookie salary cap needs to be in place in some form, and the owners take all the risk just as in any business. I think the 18 game season should happen, but players should be give at least 3 bye weeks to help reduce injury and stress. plus, 21 weeks of football!
