Titans quarterback Vince Young is still a work in progress, as offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger is quick to remind people. Heimerdinger wants Young to continue to improve his passing skills and accuracy and continue to develop from a mental standpoint as well. "I think he needs to become more consistent in his drops in the passes. We can't take a five-step drop when we've got a seven-step drop called. And I want to see him keep improving on his accuracy," Heimerdinger said. "I think his medium ball is pretty good. I'd like to see his accuracy get better on the shorter stuff. And I just think he can just keep growing." Heimerdinger was pleased with Young's progress throughout the course of the 2009 season and points out that last year was really their first chance to work together, as Young was benched after injuring his knee in the '08 season opener in the wake of a bizarre off-field episode. "Realistically, you have to remember that last year was our first year together, because he only had one game the year before," Heimerdinger. "It's been kind of a growing process, and I'm hoping that he shows as much improvement from last year to this year as he did in that time he was gone. But I think his accuracy [can improve]. Any good quarterback in this league has to be accurate."

I like Vince, became a fan after that painful and depressing Rose Bowl in 2006. :icon_cry:

Greatest individual performance by a college player...ever in a NC game. Hope he achieves the same success in the NFL. Hook Um Vince.

If he hasn't gotten it yet, it's unlikely he ever will. It's either this season or never.

    Really, are you serious?

Signed, Steve Young, Brett Favre and countless others...even one of your own greats, Jim Plunkett was labeled a "bust" and out of FB for a year till the Crypt Keeper signed him to the Raiders...and the rest is history.

    Use your head boy.

Vince has gotten a lot better since his "breakdown" and since the death of McNair, Vince has grown up a lot and is starting to become the QB that he was expected to be coming out of Texas.

Favre was starting and doing well his second season in the league. Young would have been much sooner than he was if not for the fact he was behind the best qb in the league at the time. Those are both horrible examples. Plunkett is the rare exception to the rule. 99% of the time, if a qb doesn't "get" it by his 3rd season, he never will. After the 5th season, it's pretty much a guaranteed wrap. This is Vince's 5th season...he's been a marginal starter up to this point and shown minimal improvement year to year. Improvement, yes, but hardly enough to make any rational football fan realistically think her has more than the tiniest of chances of making the jump to being a legit starter in his 5th season.

Both Favre and Young were traded from the original teams that drafted them...guess why? Vince was thrown in as a rookie QB, had an OC that did not want him and did not have confidence in him (Norm Chow) yet he was rookie of the year and won games. Vince is a winner, period. All this coming out of an offense that had two options, check down to your first option or run.

I think Mike Mayock breaks it down well...it doesn't make any difference how he does it, he just wins.

There's only been one example of him actually winning a game (The last minute drive in this season, can't remember who against). The vast majority of the time he rides the coattails of his teammates and gets given all the credit.

The media seem obsessed of making him out to be better than what he is.
