The Tennessee Titans coaching staff has been riding rookie wide receiver Justin Hunter ever since spring practices and Thursday night's preseason opener was no different according to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean. In his lone catch of the game, Hunter caught a pass beyond the first down marker on 3rd-and-5 , but wound up short of the marker when he doubled back in an attempt to get more yards. This did not please the coaches on the sidelines. “They were waiting for me,†Hunter said . “They were very mad. They were trying to get me to understand that when it’s third down, get what you can and get down. You have to get the first down. I was trying to get more than what I had. I should’ve gone down.†This is a pretty typical rookie mistake but yet another indication that Hunter has a ways to go before he is ready to make an impact in the NFL. The Titans traded up in the second round to draft Hunter and expect him to make an impact in an passing game that was pretty awful in 2012. With Kenny Britt, kendall Wright, and Nate Washington on hand, Justin Hunter does not need to be the main focus in the passing game but he does need to get his head on straight and contribute.
