Defensive end Kamerion Wimbley’s base salary this season is $4 million and the Titans plan to reduce his playing time. Might those factors mean the eighth-year pro is a candidate to be cut? No, coach Mike Munchak said on Friday: “I think Kam would be with us for sure.†Wimbley lost his starting role from last season when the Titans decided to change their approach, using bigger defensive end Ropati Pitoitua (6-8, 298) to help stop the run. Wimbley (6-4, 258) played sparingly in the preseason — 17 snaps against Washington, 21 against Cincinnati and Atlanta, and 26 against Minnesota. Munchak still sees Wimbley, who signed a five-year, $35 million contract last year, playing a significant role. “Once you get into nickel and some other packages — some packages we haven’t been using, and haven’t been doing all the things we’re going to do — he’ll show up in areas,†Munchak said. “We’ll get his play count to where it should be.†Source: The Tennessean
