The Titans were back at Baptist Sports Park Monday gearing up for their third week of training camp practices after dropping their preseason opener to the Washington Redskins Saturday night at LP Field. The state of the Titans took a backdrop to hearing from quarterback Vince Young, who was suspended from Saturdays game. Monday was the first chance that reporters were able to ask the second-year star about what transpired that caused him to be suspended.

I broke the rules and couldnt play.Got to go by the rules, Young said simply.

As for preseason Week 2, the Titans embark on a short week before traveling to New England to take on the Patriots Friday night. Always a contender in the AFC, the Patriots will offer a stiff challenge, especially in the confines of Gillette Stadium. Its going to be a great challenge. I dont know how much its going to tell us about where we are because you cant see that until you get out there in the regular season and you start winning games that count, but it will definitely tell you about the players we have on this team, said linebacker Keith Bulluck. Theyre (Patriots) probably going to be our biggest challenge of this preseason. With Tom Brady and all of the new weapons that he has, I know theyre going to come out and want to try those weapons out."

Even though the match-up with the Patriots wont count toward playoff contention, quarterback Vince Young believes it will mean something to the team, considering they dashed the playoff hopes of the Titans by defeating them in the 2006 regular-season finale. It hurt. It left a bad taste, said Young. Those guys have a great football team and we have a great football team and we basically want to go out there and do better than what we did against the Washington Redskins.

BULLUCK TEAMS WITH SOLES4SOULS TO BUTTIST CHILDREN IN NEED: 2006 Walter Payton Man of the Year award recipient Keith Bulluck continued his philanthropic ways on the first day of school with his Believe and Achieve Foundation giving out back to school book bags, supplies and shoes to over 300 needy children.

In a joint effort with the Believe and Achieve Foundation, the shoe charity Soles4Soles Inc. provided two pairs of new back to school shoes for each child. Other donors included Americhoice and Cricket Communications.

Scharlene White, the executive director of Bullucks Believe and Achieve Foundation, believes Bullucks experience with being a foster child is one of the reasons he gives back to the needy so much. Hes introduced me to a whole new world with the kids that are in foster care. Things that you dont think about that they need, we are trying to give it to them through the foundation," White said. "By them meeting someone who has been in the system like they were, they know that they too can be successful."

Bulluck invited over 30 children to the Titans afternoon practice to pickup their back to school items, get autographs and offer them hope. When I was their age I was in the same, if not a similar situation and I didnt necessarily have that outlet," Bulluck said. "For me to be able to give these young kids an outlet to take their minds off of other things going on in life and to get them shoes, book bags and other things to get them started off at the beginning of the school year is great.

WALLACE STEPPING UP: The tight ends will play an integral role in this years offensive production and with targets like Ben Troupe and Bo Scaife, it would be unwise to not get those players heavily involved. First-year Titan Cooper Wallace is just hoping to get a piece of the action. With Troupe sitting out Mondays practice, Wallace made an eye-opening play, catching an over-the-shoulder touchdown pass and coming up with an almost intercepted improbable pass on consecutive plays over big-play defender safety Chris Hope during two-minute drills.
