Jake Locker, who walked slowly and stiff-legged on Wednesday with his sprained hip, was walking nonetheless, and knows that things could have been much worse from the hit he took Sunday against the New York Jets.

“It was the best possible news for the type of injury it was, the best news I could have gotten,â€￾ Locker said. “I'm very thankful for that. I know there were a lot of prayers for me and I'm thankful for that and everybody that took the time to do that. It means a lot to me, and obviously somebody was looking down on me, and I appreciate it.â€￾

Even so, Locker is expected to miss at least three weeks with the injury as he begins his rehab.

“You've just got to let it rest. I'm just trying to get the muscles firing again and get everything going so I can be out there as soon as I can,â€￾ Locker said.

SteveRobWhatever's Take: It was a scary moment on Sunday when Locker went down. I had visions of Bo Jackson when he went down the way he did. I can't wait to see Locker back on the field because he was showing some great progress and really was coming into his own before he went down. His gutsy play reminds me of how Steve McNair used to play all out. Locker also seems to have the demeanor to be a leader like McNair was. The future seems bright for Locker as long as he can stay on the field.

yep, from everything i'm hearing, it's maybe not quite as bad as initially thought.

however, locker's constant injury issues are becoming a concern. we will see how fitzpatrick does filling in but it's never good for a team to have a different qb all the time.
