Those close to Titans QB Vince Young say he was shaken up by the news and initially didnt want to talk about it at all. Young met McNair when he was a teenager after being introduced by an uncle who played basketball at Alcorn State at the same time McNair played football at the school. McNair and young have remained in touch over the years, and had spoken on a regular basis up to McNairs death. I'm still in shock since hearing the news, Young said in a statement released by the Titans on Sunday. I spent all afternoon and night thinking about my life on and off the field with Pops. Since I was a teenager, he was like a father to me. I hear his advice in my head with everything I do. Life will be very different without him. My thoughts and prayers are with (his wife) Mechelle, the kids and the entire McNair family during this horrible time. Source: TheRedZone.org
Agreed, Vince definately gets a pass on this, I am curious to see if this loss will be motivational for him, or if it will be too much for him to take mentally. Either way in certain cases we all need to understand that players are people too, and they will all handle tragedy differently. It's tough to knock them one way or another IMO.
