One of the players who won’t suit up for the Titans in tonight’s preseason opener is rookie center Brian Schwenke. A fourth-round pick, Schwenke has been dealing with a hamstring injury. There’s no question it’s set him back in the competition for a starting spot and head coach Mike Munchak said the goal is to get him ready to play in the team’s next preseason game, against the Bengals on August 17. Rob Turner and Fernando Velasco have split time working with the starters at center during training camp. Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said it would be a mistake to dismiss Schwenke as a candidate at this point, however. “There’s still a lot of time to make that decision, and he has three weeks left to give himself an opportunity to compete for the job,’’ Loggains said.
