Testimony in the trial of Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook will resume Monday after a powerful day of testimony Friday when his girlfriend described how she was choked to the point she couldn’t breathe. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Chantel Baker describe on tape to Eden Prairie police officer Janina Ann Wresh how Cook choked her twice, the second time to the point she could not breathe during an Oct. 22 altercation at his townhouse. "I said, 'You're not supposed to do that. You're not supposed to put your hands on a girl,'" Baker told the police officer. Cook is charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation and felony third-degree assault but it’s a tricky situation now because Baker has recanted her testimony. She now says she lied about being choked to ensure Cook went to jail but prosecutors do not believe her now and say she has changed her tune for fear a conviction will end his football career. According to police, Baker suffered a tear in her eardrum and she had prominent red marks on her neck, a nbloody nose and scraped and swollen face. Source: National Football Post
Not to make light of an obviously serious situation but, technically, I think the moment he started choking her was when she couldn't breathe.
I third that statement. That being said if this is true than Chris Cook may be hearing the sound of steel cells closing soon.
